Poker Stars is the largest online tournament host in the world. It only makes sense that their TLB is most coveted title in the industry.
There is only one prize structure for the Poker Stars TLB and it is done on a weekly basis. Each week, the points leader will take on a PokerStars pro in a heads up challenge. The prize pool starts at $1,000 and is rolled over each week if there is no winner. For example: if the Poker Stars pro wins 3 weeks in a row the 4th week will have a $4,000 prize pool. Monthly Tournament Leaderboard (TLB) Details
Chasing the PokerStars TLB should be reserved for the players who are tournament specialists. This tournament leaderboard is heavily contested by the best tournament players in the world, including dozens of full time pros and even WSOP bracelets holders.
You don’t have to win the TLB to pick up a great deal of cash in the process. PokerStars has outstanding loyalty program utilizing frequent player points and VIP rewards. Their tournaments have a absurd amount of dead money; thanks to their large marketing campaigns which attract the fish.
How Points are Earned:
The top 15% of a field (minimum of 45 entrants required) earn points based on the following formula:
Points = 10 * [sqrt(n)/sqrt(k)] * [1+log(b+0.25)]
n is the number of players
k is the place of finish (k=1 for the first-place finisher, and so on)
b is the buy-in amount in dollars ($20+$2 tournament is b=20; admin fee not included in pts calculation).
Please note: You don’t need to be a math genius to compete in the TLB. A lot of players are competing in this without understanding the match involved. Basically the larger the field and higher the buy in the more points get awarded. How well you finish determines the points earned.
