Ladbrokes Poker Signs Jonathan “Skalie” Kalmar
This week Ladbokes Poker announced the signing of professional poker player Jonathan Kalmar who is also known as Skalie in the online poker community. Kalmar will be one of the faces of the Ladbrokes team that represents the site during live tournaments.
”I’m thrilled; I can’t wait to take up my role of Ladbrokes Poker pro in an official capacity! I’m raring to go. As part of Team Ladbrokes in 2006 I came 82nd in the main event and then finished in 5th last year let’s hope I continue to improve upon my performance” Said Kalmar, shortly after joining the Ladbrokes Team.
To this date the 34 year old English poker player has earned over $1.5 million in tournament play. He will become one of the feature players on the Ladbrokes team that is now over 100 players.

Ladbrokespoker.com already considers skalie a member of the team and Laddies has been Skalie’s online home for the past few years. It was only a matter of time before he joined our poker pro stable. Skalie’s multi table expertise in tournaments will be a great asset to our team.”
PokerStars Sending Poker Players to Life Ball
PokerStars is running a promotion that will send players to Life Ball 2008, which will in return help raise money for a charity event. Life Ball is a charity-event / fundraiser that takes place once a year and contributes to the research of AIDS. Since 1993, celebrities and philanthropists from around the world have been attending the event and now PokerStars is offering their players a chance to be apart of it.
For a chance to win a trip to Life Ball 2008 a player must first win a seat in the May 3rd tournament, this can be achieved by finishing in the top 100 of any of the twice daily Life Ball Qualifier freerolls. The winner of the May 3rd event will 2 Life Ball tickets plus flight for two to Vienna, two nights stay in a luxury hotel and $250 to cover expenses.
Pokerstars is also hooking up players who donate at least $1 to Life Ball. They will receive a entry into a $2,000 freeroll, which takes place on May 4th at 3:00 PM. Players can donate within their PokerStars account.

Phil Hellmuth Donates $20k To One Drop
During the filming of the $250K cash game of NBC’s Poker After Dark, ten time World Series of Poker bracelet winner Phil Hellmuth donated $20,000 to the Guy Laliberte’s One Drop foundation.
Phil comments on his donation in his personal blog and went on to say that he must have been inspired by Lalibrete’s generosity. Lalibrete donates all of his poker winnings to the foundation that he started years ago.
“There is power in emptying the clip, especially if you’re giving your last $20,000 in cash to Guy Laliberté’s One Drop charity,” Hellmuth blogged.
The One Drop Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded by Guy Laliberte’s Cirque du Soleil Company. The foundation fights poverty world wide and helps to provide everyone with access to water.
