Rumors have been circulating as of late that Microgaming network maybe looking at leaving the market in the United States all together. Microgaming Network currently has an I.P. block on thirteen of the fifty states in the U.S.A. Those states are: Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, South Dakota, Washington, Wisconsin, and Utah
This move has come about as many states are beginning to make move to seize assets of Online Gambling Sites. Microgaming Network issued an email in which it stated that this was not a new rule, but that it was just enforcement of an old rule. Microgaming is using a proxy detector along with other I.P. detection methods.
Their customers from these thirteen states as of now still have the ability to bet at their sports books, but not at the poker rooms or casinos that are operated as part of the Microgaming Network. It is also believed that if the move goes through it will only affect new accounts and not existing customers.
At this point the Microgaming Network consists of the following poker rooms: 32Red Poker, Intertops Poker, Crazy Poker, PokerTime, Royal Vegas Poker, Ladbrokes, Betway, Unibet, Pokerwize, Doyle’s Room, Jennings Poker, Gnuf, and Eurolinx.
It should be noted that Doyles Room will be leaving to a new network within a few weeks. They are currently negotiating with several networks that are Merge Gaming, Cake Poker Network, and Cereus Network. These are the largest networks that accept USA poker players.
The Fortune Lounge Group recently made the decision to stop taking new customers from the United States as a whole, and that this was effective November 10th, 2008. Fortune Lounge runs PokerTime and Royal Vegas Poker which are a part of the Microgaming Network. The Fortune Lounge Group states they are optimistic about plans to develop markets in the rest of the world, commenting in a press release sent to its affiliates, “We see this as an exciting opportunity for Fortune Affiliates and our valued partners as we aim to dominate new markets across the globe.”
