PokerStars is the largest online poker site in the industry, and they have just gotten bigger after they acquired the player base of online poker room BugsyClub.com. The total number of accounts acquired was 180,000 from the six year old standalone poker room.
“We are saddened by the events that have lead to the closing down of the BugsysClub card room. However, we are delighted that PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker site has come forward to continue taking care of our players personally,” spoke Brian Baker, CEO of BugsysClub.
One of the conditions of the sale was that any player with an active BugsysClub.com account will still be allowed to transfer funds to their PokerStars account and will be a series of freerolls for players with BugsysClub accounts.
BugsysClub.com players were first notified of the foreclosure with a message when they tried to log on to the software on the 24th of March. The message said. “We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support of the Bugsy’s Club Poker Room. Since Bugsy’s Club was formed, our mission statement has always been that we will offer you ‘The Best Poker Games in Town’ and that ‘We will take care of you Personally.’ We are proud to say that these are goals we feel we have consistently exceeded, providing you with a great place to enjoy poker.”
The only negative aspect about this deal is that players with Bugsy’s Bonus Points will lose all of their hard earned player points. PokerStars will be handling all the customer support from here on out and players shall be receiving an email message shortly from PokerStars about the actions needed to instate their new accounts.
