Professional poker player Tom ‘Durrr’ Dwan issued a challenge to any poker player and Patrik Antonius officially accepted the challenge according to an interview with Cardplayer.com. The challenge proposed was a prop bet involving Durrr giving 3-1, where he puts up $1.5 million to his opponents $500,000.
For Antonius to win the $1.5 million prop bet, he will have to play 50,000 hands at four tabling $200/$400 or higher of No Limit Texas Hold’em or Pot Limit Omaha heads up against Durrr. There are a few other conditions that have been covered previously on PokerProp.net, please visit news post Durrr’s Million Dollar Challenge for complete details.
When Antonius first heard about the Durrr’s challenge he thought it was too good to be true and immediately tried to find Durrr’s angle, but has so far come up empty to why he is offering such good value at 3-1.
There can easily be several millions of dollar swings at these stakes and when Antonius was asked if he would consider quiting if he were down a few million early he responded with, “Probably not. I would play until the end. I would just take a little break or something. Sometimes, you just know when you’re not playing your best, and it’s better to back away and get yourself in a better mindset.”
This is where there could be a possible hole in this bet, what if a player is losing and decides not to complete the 50,000 hands. From what Antonius has said in the interview the bet could take a year to actually be played out. We think Durrr should make a condition that the 50,000 hands must be completed within a month after the first hand is played while four tabling.
A rule like this has a good chance of being implemented when Antonius was asked when the challenge will start, he had this to say, “I can start whenever. Basically, I can play whenever I have time to play online. I wonder how it’s going to work, because I don’t want to force myself to play, and he doesn’t want to force himself to play either. Maybe some days, the online games will be so good that we don’t want to play each other that day. I really don’t want to play if there’s good action going on. I want to play when there’s no action going on online. It might take a year.”
Durrr has stated that he does not care which player he plays first and is looking forward to accepting these challenges and hopes it generates more high stake action online. Other players that have shown interest in this bet have been Lars Luzak, David Benyamine and Phil Ivey. Phil Ivey was the first person to accept the challenge and more information can be found my visiting Phil Ivey Accepts Durrr’s.
PokerProp.net will be updating our news section as new developments occur, as this will be one of the highest prop bets to have ever taken place.
