Full Tilt Poker recently announced their plans for a Mini-WSOP* (MSOP) designed for players without the bankroll of time to travel to Las Vegas to play the 2008 World Series of Poker. This event will mirror that of the live Las Vegas tournament series with the only difference being this event is played online and each tournament has a buy-in 1/100th the size of its live counterpart. Winners of each event will receive a Full Tilt championship watch (shown left). The event will run online at Full Tilt Poker from May 30th to July 5th.

Trends suggest that being the host of World Poker Tour might not be as great of a job as its cracked up to be. Today Layla Kaleigh announced she would not be returning to the show next season. This makes her the third consecutive host to quit after just one season. To date Shana Hiatt, original host of the WPT, was the one hostess to last more than 2 years.
Julien Nuijten is the latest Magic player to win a major poker tournament. Early Tuesday morning he took down the PokerStars LAPT Event in Rio de Janeiro. Nuijten first rose to fame in 2004 when at age 15 he became the youngest player ever to win a Magic: The Gathering Championship. He joins Magic Hall of Fame members David Williams and Erik Froelich as players who’ve made the transition from winning Magic events to winning high stake poker tournaments.
Bodog announced yesterday they’ve signed 22 year old poker prodigy Justin Bonomo to Team Bodog. He will be endorsing Bodog Poker at live events around the world starting with the WSOP Vegas later this month.
Harrah’s confirmed today that the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event will be played 117 days after it has been set. The move of the final table to the September TV season is designed to help draw a wider audience by giving WSOP the appeal of a major sports championship.
