The European Open IV begins February 1st to the 8th. Not only will Phil Hellmuth be attending the event, he will also in the press box doing commentary. VC Poker has teamed up with leading e-commerce software provider, Initial Poker, to create a new loyalty point redemption store for their players. This store is scheduled to launch by March 15, 2008 and will provide players the opportunity to redeem points earned at VC Poker for merchandise ranging from poker chips and cards to iPods and Plasma TV’s.
Shawn Marion, one of the the NBA’s best all around players, will be hosting a charity poker tournament on January 30. This event is expected to raise more than 1,000,000 dollars for charity and will attract a slew of celebrities. Some celebrities scheduled for attendance are Shawn Marion, Pamela Anderson, Phoenix Sun and San Antonio Spurs players, NBA Legends, Entourage cast members, Jerome Betits, Wanda Sykes, Shannon Elizabeth and David “Big Papi” Ortiz.

There is a new prop bet that is currently being played out in a Bellagio bathroom. For the next 30 days Jay Kwik, a live professional poker player and Bellagio regular, will be living in a bathroom. The 2008 Aussie Millions Main field has been narrowed to 330 players. 780 players, including many of the biggest names in poker, anted up a $10,000 entry fee to create a prize pool of a whopping 7.8 million dollars. Shane Warne was one of the 330 (of 780 total) entrants to survive the first day of the 2008 Aussie Millions. During day one he paid, in the form of a 5 minute penalty, for the following lesson: “while text messaging devices might have their place on the cricket pitch their use is strictly prohibited on the poker felt”. Oh well, congrats to Shane on surviving day one and for also taking the first steps in becoming poker’s next bad boy.
