Harrah’s confirmed today that the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event will be played 117 days after it has been set. The move of the final table to the September TV season is designed to help draw a wider audience by giving WSOP the appeal of a major sports championship. While a lot of full time poker player’s and poker community members have been quite vocal that this violates tradition and the point of a poker tournament, supporters feel these players are missing the bigger pitcher.
With poker clearly on the decline in American markets, this might have the potential to help give it some resurgence. After all fish love reality TV and anything that has potential to attract more fish to both live and online poker in the states certainly can’t be all that bad.
