Recently Full Tilt Poker opened registration for a tournament they’ll host Saturday May 24, which is being billed as the largest High Stakes Heads up Match in history. This tournament will have a $25,000 buy-in and after filling up with 64 registrants, Full Tilt decided to add an additional 64 seats. Trends suggest that being the host of World Poker Tour might not be as great of a job as its cracked up to be. Today Layla Kaleigh announced she would not be returning to the show next season. Julien Nuijten is the latest Magic player to win a major poker tournament. Early Tuesday morning he took down the PokerStars LAPT Event in Rio de Janeiro. Nuijten first rose to fame in 2004 when at age 15 he became the youngest player ever to win a Magic: The Gathering Championship. He joins Magic Hall of Fame members David Williams and Erik Froelich as players who’ve made the transition from winning Magic events to winning high stake poker tournaments.

Bodog announced yesterday they’ve signed 22 year old poker prodigy Justin Bonomo to Team Bodog. He will be endorsing Bodog Poker at live events around the world starting with the WSOP Vegas later this month.

Allen Cunningham is just shy of $10 million in career tournament winnings after he wins WSOPC Main Event at Caesars Palace. After starting the final table 7th in chips and overcoming a 3.5-1 chip deficit at the start of heads up play, Allen Cunningham has emerged victorious at this years WSOP circuit Main Event. Harrah’s confirmed today that the final table of the World Series of Poker Main Event will be played 117 days after it has been set. The move of the final table to the September TV season is designed to help draw a wider audience by giving WSOP the appeal of a major sports championship. While a lot of full time poker player’s and poker community members have been quite vocal that this violates tradition and the point of a poker tournament, supporters feel these players are missing the bigger pitcher.

With poker clearly on the decline in American markets, this might have the potential to help give it some resurgence. After all fish love reality TV and anything that has potential to attract more fish to both live and online poker in the states certainly can’t be all that bad.
