Canadian professional poker player Daniel Negreanu has made his second major cameo appearance this year by showing up in Katy Perry’s brand new music video labeled, Waking up in Vegas.
His other major cameo appearance was on the leaked version of X-Men origins where there was a high stakes poker game between Negreanu, Wolverine and Gambit.
Around the 1:20 minute mark, you’ll see Negreanu in another high stakes poker game, except this time he is playing heads up against Katy Perry.
When we see Negreanu in the video he is clearly distressed and deflated watching Perry scoop the mounds of chips when the board goes running aces giving her quad aces and beating Negreanu’s quad kings. Thanks to PokerStars shameless advertising we not only see a huge logo in the right corner, but we’re also provided with the size of the pot, which was $17,200,000. The question is, did the corporation fund Negreanu and is Katy Perry the next Andy Bale?
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen an online poker site blatantly advertise in a music video as Bwin.com had a logo on a poker table during the terribly annoying Lady GaGa’s music video called ‘Poker Face’. It really makes me wonder how is this advertisement worth it? How can Katy Perry and Lady GaGa be the target audience that online poker sites seek?
I’m also quite proud that I didn’t even make a parallel joke about Daniel Negreanu’s sexuality and Katy Perry’s song that goes… I kissed a girl and liked it….
