Early reports are surfacing this morning that applications submitted by both the Kahnawake Gaming Commission in Canada and the Antigua Government requesting White List approval by the United Kingdom have been rejected. This is a huge blow to these gaming districts, as only companies holding a white list gaming license are ale to advertise in the United Kingdom
No specific reason has been given for this decline other than a statement made by the UK’s Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport which said: “After careful assessment of their representations against the published criteria, the Secretary of State has also decided not to whitelist Kahnawáke (Canadian reservation) or Antigua.”
In recent months, many online casinos and poker rooms have already began seeking alternate gaming licenses, for example: InterPoker.com moved its operations to Malta and Full Tilt Poker obtained an eGambling Licence with Alderney’s jurisdiction. With the recent news of Kahnawake’s application for whitelist approval being rejected its likely we’ll see a large number of gaming operations changing jurisdictions in the coming weeks and months.
