JJ Prodigy Josh FieldPoker Stars decided to ban ‘JJProdigy’ who’s real name is Josh Field after they caught wind of what went on at Party Poker. PokerStars research found that JJProdigy was playing under multiple accounts in major tournaments on their site.

Not only has PokerStars banned this cheater from their software they have also have extended his ban so he may not play in the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) since he is now turning legal age.

The reason why JJ Prodigy was under the microscope was because of the $500,000 Guaranteed tournament which took place back in early 2006 at Party Poker. The account name ‘ablackcar’ won first place and a prize of $140,000. There was nothing abnormal about this except it was discovered on Pocketfives.com that their was suspicion of ‘ablackcar’ was in fact being played by user name ‘JJProdigy’. I bet you see the problem now.

JJ Prodigy owns a reputation of being a very solid poker player and these types of poker players are under constant speculation and hand analyses on Internet forums. Its reported from pokerking.com, that within 20 minutes after the ablackcar won the tournament that these two accounts participated in this tournament.

Shortly after JJ Prodigy was confronted with the allegations. A laughable and pathetic attempt was made by JJProdigy, in saying that the account was his grandmothers account. Yes, we are being serious here. JJProdigy went on mention that he took over for his grandmother in the late stages of the tournament.

After hearing this poker forums were absolutely buzzing. Motivated forum posters started searching and digging up information about screen names ‘ablackcar’ and ‘JJProdigy’. Several of them found that these two screen names were playing in the same high stakes tournaments. Party Poker was made aware of the allegations and information and they handled this very quickly by freezing both accounts. Within a week, Party Poker banned both accounts and confiscated the $140,000 that ‘ablackcar’ won and another $40,000 from the account ‘JJProdigy’. The tournament money was redistributed and everyone in the $500,000 Party Poker Guaranteed Tournament was of course bumped up one spot.

The scandal doesn’t end here. JJ Prodigy attempted an apology to the poker world on 2+2. Below are significant parts of his post. This post was made on December 22nd 2007.

“It’s hard to pick out where to start. The past few years, I have been forced to go underground and stay mysterious. It’s not something I really chose, but it was something forced upon me. I was fourteen turning fifteen, and I was much too immature to handle the situation (ABlackCar incident, and the underage violations that followed). I am almost embarrassed reading my posts about the situation, but I realize that I was still very young at the time.”

“After all that happened, I was banned from PokerStars and PartyPoker, and all my accounts were closed for being underage. My immaturity again was working against me. I didn’t think what I was doing was wrong. After that, it was a downward spiral. I was a fugitive in the online poker world.”

“Transition to present time. I do believe I have matured and developed a sense of morals and personal ethics. I was always too scared to apologize to the community, mostly due to the fact I didn’t think what I was doing was wrong. I finally realize now that I was cheating completely. I neglected my fellow poker players and cheated a wonderful thing we have with online poker. I betrayed a community I cared so much about all for selfish reasons. It shames me to think about it. I did it for so long, and I never had the courage to quit and admit what I was doing was wrong.”

“So, I write this to officially apologize to the community. I apologize to the people that have been close to me and have been given a negative name due to my actions. I apologize to all the players I played with under unknown names and gave myself an unfair advantage. I give my word that I will never multi-account again, and I will not play online until I am 18. I apologize to the sites that I unfairly took advantage of. I don’t expect to be forgiven right away, but I hope I can earn the forgiveness of the community, the sites, and even my friends.”
