Jorg Peisert is $506,800 richer this morning as last night he picked up his first career WSOP bracelet, winning 2009 WSOP Event 52 – $3,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em Triple Chance. His victory also gave Germany their second bracelet of the 2009 WSOP, the previous coming a night earlier. Last year there were three German Bracelet winners and prior to last year’s series there were only four total. This means Jorg Peisert the ninth German in history to win a WSOP bracelet.
This event, Triple Chance No Limit Holdem, was a new addition to the World Series of Poker schedule which was designed as a replacement to re-buy tournaments which are no longer part of the schedule. How this new format worked: players received their initial starting stack plus two reload chips. These chips were then redeemable anytime during the first three levels for another starting stack of chips. The result was a lot more chips in play giving players flexibility to make moves, which made the game more exciting to watch.
After three days of play the final table was reached and Jorg Peisert was at the summit with 1.65 million chips, only a few more than his closest rival Jason DeWitt who held 1.62 million chips. The two starting chip leaders navigated their way through the final table as their seven final table mates fell waste-side, pitting them heads up. Peisert took a commanding chips lead into the final round and it didn’t take him long to seal the deal. On the final hand Dewitt pushed his last 600,000 chips with Kh 4c and was quickly called by Peisert who held red pocket nines. The board ran 7d Ad 7c 6s Tc and Jason Dewitt was the runner up receiving $313,227, while Peisert captured the coveted WSOP gold bracelet and the $506,800 top place prize money.
