Peter Eastgate
Doyle Brunson
David Benyamine
Eli Elezra
Daniel Negreanu

Once again AJ Benza and Gabe Kaplan introduce the show and provide clips of episode 1 highlights. Within moments we get right into action and Elezra sleeper straddles from middle position. Daniel Negreanu is feeling lucky with 9-6 of hearts and raises to $5,600 and Doyle wakes up with pocket kings for the second time of the show. Elezra looks at his straddled hand and calls the raise to $5,600 with A-6.

The flop falls Jd-5h-5d and Negreanu comes out betting $8,500 after Elezra checked. Doyle takes his time and decides to smooth call Negreanu’s bet. Action comes back to Elezra and he makes it $25,000 to go with a check-raise. Doyle does not hesitate and insta-calls. Elezra does not slow down and bets $55,000 on the turn when a 4 of clubs falls and Doyle quickly calls again. Fifth street brings a 2 of hearts and Elezra is put in a very tough position. He ends up checking and Doyle flips over his kings which is more than enough and wins the pot that is worth $187,700.

Elezra is most certainly tilting at this point, which is shown when he preflop calls Q-9 twice. He limped in for $800 with it and then called again when Doyle Brunson woke up with pocket jacks and raised to $7,000. The flop and turn came Q-6-10-A and both players checked both streets. A 10 landed on the river and Elezra made a value bet of $6,600, Doyle didn’t believe it and created a pot of $30,800 after calling the river bet that Elezra scooped.

The following hand there is some table banter with someone saying, “Lets get this game out of the muck.” That was enough motivation for Ziigmund to put on a live straddle. The action is $1,600 to go and Peter Eastgate calls with Jack 10 of diamonds. Benyamine and Elezra both call with A-8 and Q-2 respectively. Action comes to Ziigmund who looks at his straddled hand and sees pocket nines and raises to $12,600. Eastgate ends up being the only player who calls and the flop falls Jc-6c-As. Ziigmund c-bets $20,000 and received an unwanted call from Eastgate. The turn brings a 4 of hearts and without much deliberation Ziigmund checks, Eastgate makes a great bet of $39,000 and Ziigmund makes a surprising call with his pocket nines. The river lands a Jack which improves Eastgates hand giving him trip jacks. Ziigmund checks and Eastgate attempts a value bet of $85,000. Ziigmund thinks the hand over and has to believe that Eastgate is bluffing a busted flush draw and makes the big boy call. He gets the bad news and gives Eastgate the largest pot of the season, a whopping $318,000.

With Eastgate running good he puts on the $1,600 straddle. The action comes to Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan and he makes to $5,600 to go with 9-7 of diamonds. Elezra calls the $5,600 with pocket 6s and Ziigmund who is steaming calls with 8-5 of diamonds. Negreanu who is on the big blind sees Ace Queen hearts and raises to $27,600.

Durrrr asks Negreanu how much he brought today and he replies with $200,000 and then continues to say if he loses it he will need to borrow $200,000, which was directed to durrrr.

Durrrr takes no time to call the raise of $22,000 and Elezra makes a huge play of re-raising all in for a total of $99,700. Negreanu calls the $72,100, Durrr folds. Both Elezra and Negreanu decide to run the boards twice. The first board came Js-3h-As-3c-6h, making trips for Elezra and he takes the first half of the pot. The second board ran 7c-10d-Ac-Kc-5h and both players chopped the pot of $235,800.

The following hand Daniel Negreanu looks at 4-2 clubs under the gun and raises to $2,500. The action is folded around to durrrr who looks at two black eights and smooth calls the raise. The two of them go heads up and the flop hits 9c-9s-Qc. Negreanu check calls durrrr’s bet of $4,200. The turn makes trip nines on the board and both players check. A king of spades appears on the river and both players check again. Durrrr wins the $16,000 pot with nines full of eights.

On the sixth hand of episode 2, durrrr looks down at King Queen of hearts and raises it to $3,000 and receives action from Ziigmund who makes it $13,000 to go with A-3 offsuit. Durrrr loosely calls and flops broadway when the board brings 10d-Jc-Ac. Both players checked the flop and the turn hits a 7 of clubs. Durrrr checks again and Ziigmund checks. However, the river is where some action came. After durrrr checked again Ziigmund fires out $16,000 and durrrr decides to raise it $60,300. Ziigmund can’t believe it after durrrr checked all other streets and finally he makes another questionable call and loses $44,300 more from calling. Durrrr takes a very nice pot that is worth $149,200

Episode 2 continues to be high octane action with durrrr raising to $3,000 with K-9 offsuit. Benyamine, Elezra, Negreanu, get in on the action with J-10, K3 spades, 7-7 respectively. The action comes to Eastgate and he makes a squeeze play and bumps it up to $18,000. He had believers from everyone except Negreanu, who called the $15,000 with pocket 7s. The flop was great for Negreanu giving him a set on a 5s-4d-7 flop. Negreanu checks and Eastgate makes a c-bet of $20,000. When it was Negreanu’s turn to act he raised to $35,000 more expecting Eastgate had an over pair, since he didn’t and didn’t get fancy Eastgate folded his 10-3 diamonds. Negreanu takes his first non chopped pot of the episode worth $123,200.

Durrrr felt like he was missing out on the action and the very next hand he raised to $3,000 after looking down at Qh-10c. Benyamine called $2,600 with 6h-3h and Elezra called $2,200 from the big blind with Kc-4d. The flop came 7d-Qc-10h and both blinds checked. Durrrr bet $7,300 from the button and both players folded. This is the third pot of the episode for durrrr and won $10,600.

Monkey see monkey do, Negreanu now raises preflop with Qh-10s to $2,500 the following hand after durrrr flipped over Q-10 and flopping top two. Durrrr looks at Js-7s and re-raises to $9,200 and Elezra calls $8,800 with A-J off suit. The flop ran Qd-3d-7h, both players checked and a 2 of clubs hit the turn. Elezra checked the 2 and durrrr bet out $13,200 with his pair of sevens. Elezra insta-calls the $13,200 and the river brings a 8 of clubs. Both players checked and durrrr flips over his pair of sevens for a pot worth $49,700

The final hand of the episode involves Barry Greenstein picking up pocket Aces under the gun and raising to $2,500 which creates a family pot. All players called Greenstein’s raise here is a list to keep it easier to follow:

Durrrr – Qc-10c
Benyamine – 3d-3c
Elezra – Jd-9s
Ziigmund – 7h-6s
Negreanu – Kd-4d
Eastgate – 4h-2d
Brunson – As-9c

The flop came 2c-10d-2s giving Eastgate trip deuces with a four kicker. Greenstein believes it is a decent flop for his hand and bets out $10,000. Play comes to durrrr who has top pair with a queen kicker and raises to $37,300 with 7 players behind him! Eastgate smooth calls Dwan’s raise with his trip deuces and Greenstein calls the raise with his aces. Eastgate and Greenstein both check the turn when a 7 of diamonds landed and durrrr continued to speed and bet out $104,200 with his one pair. He gets Eastgate to fold his trip deuces and the option is now up to Greenstein who folds after taking some time. Durrrr knew exactly who had the best hand and the decision that Greenstein had to make with a short speech after stacking up at pot worth $133,500.

That wrapped up the action for High Stakes Poker season 5 episode two. If you would like to watch videos of the show you can find hand replays on youtube or pokertube. Savvy users can also find High Stake Poker torrent files.
