News in the poker world ebbs and flows, especially in the slower months leading up to the big dates on the calendar like the WSOP. But the gossip and crazy prop bets the poker world offers are endless and most of us love to read about and discuss them. We came up with a new idea for a news column to run regularly on our website and right now you’re reading the first issue. In the future you’ll find these in our poker news section with the labeled “Prop Bet News”.
Doyle Brunson vs Patrick Antonius in $100K per Hole Golf Match
Remember the supposed golf challenge between Doyle Brunson and Patrik Antonius for 100k a hole? Pretty much the most unlikely of competitors for a prop bet right? Well Doyle amended his bet in his blog today looking for a bit of an edge by saying he’d need a 100 yard advantage on every hole because of deteriorating health conditions and his weak long game. Pretty fair considering his age, but I doubt Doyle has ever gone into a bet without trying to find some sort of advantage. After all you probably have to if you plan being a successful gambler for over fifty years, and if you want to be living in a Vegas suburb where the guy moving in next door is LeBron James.
Who’s that Guy in the WPT Championship Wearing Funny Hats?
Another great prop bet between online prodigy Tom Dwan (Durrr) and a friend of his, 2+2 regular “TheUsher”, had the two of them betting on punctuality. Maybe not the most exciting premise for a bet ever, as they had to both arrive at the Bellagio at a certain time. But the result was pretty hilarious with Dwan being forced to wear multiple funny hats during day 1 of the WPT World Championship, including a 2 foot tall “bowling pin hat” and a fluffy pink one that looked straight out of a 19th century cabaret show. Maybe it brought him luck because he’s currently crushing his way to the final table while sitting in the top three in chips.
Stay tuned for more “Prop Bet News” in the near future.
