2009 WSOP Event #53, $2,500 Stud Hi/Lo had 14 players return for day three. When it was said and done the events champion was David J. Halpern, a 54-year-old attorney from New Orleans who captured his first career bracelet and the $159,048 top place prize money. In doing so he outlasted a tough field that included Chad Brown, Allie Prescott, Matt Savage, Vince Burgio, and three-time bracelet winner Dr. Max Stern.
Despite now being a WSOP bracelet holder, David Halpern is still a recreational poker who plays the game as a hobby. He has a successful business specializing in commercial law and business litigation and is a part owner of several restaurants, including Bayona and GW Fins, both in the French Quarter. He also has investment in a number of Ruth’s Chris Steakhouses. Poker-prop.net congratulates him on his victory in 2009 WSOP Event #53.
