Prop bet: Daniel Negreanu and Teddy SheringhamThere is nothing more mythical than a two-sport star. Being able to compete at the highest level of one sport is difficult enough. Pulling it off in two sports is legendary. Look at Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders. Now we can add former professional soccer player Teddy Sheringham to the list.

After entering the World Series of Poker Europe main event with mostly home games on his poker resume, Sheringham headed, passed, and kicked his way through the field of 608 before scoring a 14th place finish worth over 40,000 pounds.

Inspired by Sheringham’s unlikely cash in the main event, tournament specialist Daniel Negreanu has an idea for a little sport-hopping challenge of his own.

Known for being willing to gamble on almost anything, Negreneau has issued a challenge worth 12,000 pounds. To win, all Negreanu has to do is score one goal in five attempts. The problem? Liverpool’s goalkeeper and multiple Golden Gloves winner (an award handed out by the Premier League to goalkeepers who are able to finish the season without being scored upon) Jose Reina will be standing between Daniel and the net.

While it’s unlikely that Negrenau will see the same success in soccer as Teddy Sheringham enjoyed in Daniel’s game, the 12,000 pounds on the line most likely won’t be missed — Negreneu finished second in the WSOPE main event and pocketed just under 500,000 pounds.
