Prop Bet: Patrik Antonius and Doyle Brunson $100k a Hole

In case you haven’t heard there has been a lot of tension in recent weeks between Doyle Brunson and Patrik Antonius. The two have apparently already agreed to play each other in a high stakes heads up poker match with more than a million dollars on the line. It now seems likely that a $100K per hole golf match might also be added to the card.

This rivalry all started when Antonius called Doyle Brunson out in Card Player Magazine, stating he would play Doyle head-up anytime, in any game and for any amount. Doyle, like any proud Texan would, gladly accepted the match but also stated that while he doesn’t usually seek heads up matches with great players, Patrik has likely bit off more than he can chew with the terms of his challenge. The fact is Doyle has 7 to 10 different games that he plays for high stakes and thinks that Patrik may have made a mistake saying he would play any game for any amount.

It appears now that Doyle has become annoyed and a bit pissed off over Patrik running his mouth with crass comments about Doyles age and abilities. To take a shot back at Antonius, Brunson posted the following on his April 16th Blog entry:

“Since Patrik is into making challenges, here is one for him. I read where he has taken up golf. So, I challenge him to play for $100,000 a hole at Bali Hai Golf Club, any time from now until the end of August. Surely a twenty-seven-year-old ex-professional tennis player from Finland can beat a seventy-four-year-old guy with an artificial shoulder and who has to use a crutch to walk. What do you say, Patrik?”

We’ll Doyle in case you haven’t seen; Patrik Antonius has more or less said “ROFL, Yes I accept”. He did so in his most recent blog entry where he continued to take shot at Doyles age and conditioned his acceptance on having till August to practice.
