Allen Carter Wins 2009 WPT SPC The first World Poker Tour event of 2009 was played out with an eight hour final at the Southern Poker Championship in Beau Rivage Casino in Biloxi, MS. The tournament had an excellent turn out with 283 entrants, which paid out a first place prize of $1 million that was earned by Allen ‘AawwNutz’ Carter after the grueling final table.

The final table consisted of:

Seat 1: Hilbert Shirey – 1.4 million in chips – 3 time WSOP braclet winner
Seat 2: Bobby Suer – 651,000 in chips
Seat 3: Tyler “Tydean” Smith – 1.3 million in chips – WSOPC ring winner
Seat 4: Allen Carter – 1.7 million in chips
Seat 5: Soheil Shamseddin – 3 million in chips
Seat 6: Hyong “Chuck” Kim – 486,000 in chips

Other major names that attended the event include: Erick Lindgren, Scott Clements, T.J. Cloutier, Hoyto Corkins, Vanessa Rousso who finished 7th, Hevad Khan, Layne Flack, Tiffany Michelle, Tom McCormick, Clonie Gowen, Anna Wroblewski, Rob Mariano, Brandon Chantu, Tom ‘Captain’ Franklin, poker babe Kristy Gazes, Shaun Deeb, and many more.

The first player to be eliminated from the final table was Hyong ‘Chuck’ Kim, which took just over 90 hands. After Kim was eliminated it took only 10 more hands for Tyler Smith’s Ace King preflop hand to run into Bobby Suer’s pocket queens. The board came five blanks and Smith went home in fifth place.

On the 109th hand, it was Hilbert Shirey’s turn to go home when he pushed his remaining stack in with Jack 10 suited and was insta-called by Suer’s Ace 8. The flop hit an ace and Shirey was eliminated in fourth place. Soheil Shamseddin decided to be a superstar when the board read K-10-5-10-A and moved all in on the river, which was called by Allen Carter with Q-10. Shamseddin had jack high and he eliminated himself in third place.

The heads up battle ended on hand 154 when Suer pushed all in with Ace King and was called by Carter with Ace 4/ The board came Jc-5c-3s-2-d-Qd, which gave Carter a straight to the five and eliminated in Bobby Suer in second place.
