Adam Peck Wins Aussie Millions Event 13Today we have the No-Limit/Limit mixed hold’em event here at the 2009 Aussie Millions. The players will begin with 5k in chips and every 30 minutes they’ll switch from Limit to No-Limit. This event has 86 runners as they say here down under. The field is comprised of locals for the most part as many of the big guns are still in the Main Event or are taking the day off in preparation for a couple No-Limit events coming up.

In a change from the norm the Aussie Millions Tournament Staff have once again elected for a 10 man/woman final table. The players to make the final table are:

Seat 1 Trung Tran – 45,000
Seat 2 Nick Putt – 30,000
Seat 3 Marlon Goonawardana – 54,000
Seat 4 Angelo Scicchitano – 9,000
Seat 5 Serghey Ershou – 38,000
Seat 6 Andrew Kanardidis – 28,000
Seat 7 Melanie Banfield – 40,000
Seat 8 Michael Guzzardi – 68,000
Seat 9 Adam Peck – 55,000
Seat 10 Taner Durust – 33,000

Of these ten men and woman only 9 will go home with money, with the 1st place finished receiving $25,000AUD and a Allure Gold Ring signifying an Aussie Millions Champion. Melanie Banfield became our bubble girl as she was busted out in 10th leaving the rest of the field to via for the money. Michael Guzzardi was our next victim as he finishes in 9th place earning $2,150AUD for his efforts here today. After some impressive play in earlier events here at the Aussie Millions Nick Putt had a chance to win one here but came up short finishing in 9th place receiving $3,010AUD.

After running Ax-Jx into Ax-Kx Michael Guzzardi is done here today after a great finish yesterday. To his dismay he and his opponent made 3 pair on a board of Ax-5x-5x-Kx-Jx to make it that much worse; he will however take home $3,870AUD. Our next elimination was Andrew Kanaridis at the hands of Trung Tran after his Ah-3h was out drawn by the Kh-8h of Tran. With that Kanaridis finishes in 6th place for $6,880AUD. To Tran’s displeasure following a rotation of Limit Hold’em he was left in bad shape and was eliminated in 5th place, and taking home $6,880AUD as well.

Taner Durust was our next player to make his way to the rail at his final table finishing in 4th place, after his Ad-Qd ran into Red Kings. He was unable to hit the board and will receive $8,600AUD. After the elimination of Durust the players took a short break and returned only to take another break after Serghey Ershou was eliminated in the first hand back from break. Serghey had a slight overlook on a board of 7c-5d-6s-4s with Ershou not realizing that his 5h-3h made the dummy side of the straight to which Adam Peck held the 8s-Kx to make the big side and eliminate Ershou in 3rd. Ershou will receive $12,900AUD. As we come back from break heads up is about to begin with the chip counts as such:

Adam Peck – 241,000
Marlon Goonawardana – 189,000

It all came down to a limit hold’em hand, in heads up limit hold’em there is no cap on the number of raises on any betting round. So on the final hand it began with Peck raising to 32k, only to start a raising war 16k at a time all the way to 96k preflop. Once the 96k raise occurred Marlon Goonawardana seemed to clue in that he could be in a ton of trouble. After asking the dealer to confirm the amount he was vested in the pot, he came to the conclusion that there was no turning back. He and Adam Peck agreed to get it all-in!

Adam Peck: Ac-Kh
Marlon Goonawardana: Ah-9c

With the flop falling 7d-Kd-7s it was all but over for Goonawardana who would need running 9’s to win or running 7’s to chop. With a 6d on the turn it was all over leaving Marlon Goonawardana in 2nd place worth $18,430AUD. With that hand Adam Peck won a healthy $25,000AUD and will receive the Allure Gold Ring.

Congratulations to all the player who left here with some money in their pocket. As well congratulations to Adam Peck who capitalized on large blinds combined with a well timed rush to take this event. For all of us here at PokerProp.net good night and good luck!
