The 2009 WSOP Schedule is still noticeably absent from the worldseriesofpoker.com website. In past years the schedule was posted in October or November, so it’s understandable some players are on edge over this year’s delay. Perhaps most disturbing is WSOP and Harrah’s silence with no excuse or reasons for the delay given. Players who have expressed concern over missing early chances at time-off bids from their employers, as well as fans, professionals and members of the media, will be happy to hear we just received word: The 2009 WSOP Schedule will be released Monday January 19, 2009.
A member of the WSOP staff commented in private to poker-prop.net this morning: “there will be considerably less events this year with rebuys being the most noticeable absence”. When we asked about the delay, he then asked for anonymity regarding his past comment and declined further comment.
The only other news worth reporting is rumors the event might be moved away from the Rio have apparently been squashed, so its likely will have a 2009 WSOP at the Rio schedule posted at the latest early next week.
