World Poker Tour has announced that it will air filming of two tournaments at Vancouver’s famed River Rock Casino, as part of the newly formed WPT Canada Series which will air on Rogers Sportsnet. The tournaments which will air as four one hour episodes, the segments are from recently filmed finals of the Coast to Coast Championships and are from the Bounty Event and Main Event. These episodes will be hosted by Canadian Sportscaster Jim Van Horne and the well known poker pro “Cowboy” Kenna James.

The WPT Canada series will look forward to focusing on Canadian content and Canadian Poker Professionals’. In a recent statement Lyndsay Lagree WPT spokeswoman said “The Canadian market is very poker-hungry. The Canadians love their poker. It’s great to be able to bring the World Poker Tour up to Canada and just have a Canadian-focused show. Rogers is a huge network, and we hope to do more with than in the future.”

The Bounty Event which will be the first to air was a $1,000 buy-in event with first place taking home over $90,000 CAD. Some of the Bounties include Brad “Yukon” Booth, Gavin Smith, Antonio “The Magician” Esfandiari and “Cowboy” Kenna James. The Main Event of the Coast to Coast Championships will comprise the 3rd & 4th one hour episodes with that event providing a first place prize of $224,100. This is not the World Poker Tour’s first branch out to regional events as they have also done regional shows in China and India, and hope to continue to do more of the same.
