Coming into the final table David Woo was 510,000 chips short of the chip leader, Thom Werthmann. However, he was able to over come this and eliminate Matt Wood in heads up play which sealed his victory.

Final table coverage:

After two days of play the field of 2,720 was now down to nine and this is how the players chip stacks looked heading into the final table.

Short stack Jim Paras found himself all in just five hands into the final table where on a flop of Js-5c-2h his Ah Jh ran into David Woo’s set of twos. He caught some help when a Jack fell on the turn, but a Nine on the river sent him to the rail in ninth place to collect $58,290 in prize money.

David Woo was picking off the players like flies on a windshield as he sent Thanh Dat Tran home in seventh place. He also pulled off a double elimination sending Thom Werthmann and Curtis Early to the rail in one hand. In the double elimination hand Woo flopped Broadway on a Qd-Jc-10c board with A-K. Early flopped top two with Q-J and Werthmann had K-Q for top pair and straight draw. The players put all there chips in on the flop with Woo having each of them covered. The turn and river were bricks and Woo’s straight held up and eliminated both players.

The match came heads up when Eric Beren lost his all in hand to Matt Wood on the 102 hand of the final table. From the button Beren pushed all in and Matt Wood calls from the big blind. The players show their hands:

Beren: Ah-10h
Wood: Ac-Qd

The board ran 8d-4d-2s-7d-5h and Beren was eliminated in third place and earned $278,460 for his efforts. The tournament was set for heads up play with Matt Wood and David Woo.

On hand 142 of the final table the last hand of the tournament was dealt out and Matt Wood raised to 360,000 and David Woo called. The flop dropped 9h-5s-4d and Woo lead out for 175,000 and was raised by Wood to 675,000, action came back to Woo and he re-raised another 1 million in chips and Wood hit the tank. After several minutes of thinking Wood moved all in for nearly 2.5 million in chips and then Woo hits the tanks as well and finally called. The players reveal:

Wood: 9s-6d
Woo: 10h-10d

The turn and the river brought a Queen and a four respectively, and Wood failed to hit a nine or six to improve and he fell in second place. Wood still had a very respectable outing and earned $389,844 for his efforts.
