Bodog Mini-SOPApparently Bodog Poker was quite fond of Full Tilts idea to launch a Mini-SOP as they announced today their poker room will be running more or less the same tournament series. The only difference with Bodog Mini-SOP is it covers only the 25 Holdem Events where the Full Tilt Mini-SOP covers each tournament.

Bodog’s Mini-SOP will run from May 30 to July 3rd with each tournament held on the same date as its Last Vegas counterpart. The difference between the Las Vegas and online event at Bodog, other then one tournament being played live and the other being online, is that the Mini-SOP has buy-ins only 1% of what the Vegas tournaments cost.

Each event has a buy-in ranging from $10+1 up to the $100+$9 Mini-SOP Main Event. Playing all 25 events would cost a player just $821 and players have a great incentive to play them all as Bodog will be running a Tournament Leader Board (“TLB”) throughout the series. This TLB will be used to determine which players will be invited to participate in the Mini-SOP tournament of champions (a 26th event added to the series) which will take place on July 10th.

The top four TLB leaders automatically qualify for the July 10th tournament and those finishing 5th through 100th on the Mini-SOP leaderboard will be invited to a July 8th tournament of champion qualifier which will award the top 18 finishers a seat. An additional 5 seats will be issued based on a wild card drawing involving names of all players who entered at least 3 Mini-SOP events.

The most exciting part of the Mini-SOP TLB is that the July 10th tournament will have just 27 entrants and the top 3 finishers will win a seat in the 2009 World Series of Poker* Main Event. This will make Bodog Poker the first online poker room to award seats to next summer’s Main Event.

While the idea for this promotion is certainly not unique, it is exciting nonetheless and is a great opportunity for those players without the bankroll or means to make the Las Vegas Tournament series to still participate in the excitement this time of the year brings to the poker community.
