While we’re not entirely sure if the use of text messaging devices are allowed or not from the cricket pitch, we do know for sure that such devices have no place on the poker felt. This is a rule Shane Warne might not of been aware of as he was penalized only hours into his professional poker debut for sending a talked about text message from the felt.

The debut we’re referring to is the 2008 Aussie Millions Main Event, which marks the first event Warne is playing at under his 2 year sponsorship deal with the online poker room pacificpoker.com. Despite the penalty, he was able to finish the tournaments first day with 3,100 more chips than his original 20,000 starting chip amount. While a 23,100 chip stack isn’t going to impress anyone its worth noting that 780 players entered this event, including many world’s best players, and only 330 of them were able to survive the first day.

Once day 1 was complete Amada Letherman, of pokernews.com, caught up with Warne for this interview:

Stay tuned tomorrow to see how Shane Warne and other professionals fair on Day 2.
