This is the 2nd Shootout event of this years WSOP the buy-in is $1,500 and can surly expect what should be a sell out at 900 entrants and 1.228 Million dollar prize pool same as last year, where Donald Baruch took $264,000. As mentioned earlier in these types of events you start on one table and don’t move on till you’re the last person at your table. The blinds will go up every 60 minutes and players will start with 3,000 chips.

Event #18 No-limit 2-7 Lowball w/Re-buys Monday June 9th 5pm
This is an event that is likely to see a very small field, last year there were only 78 entrants. This event is typically only played by the pro’s as they are the only ones who tend to play this lost art. Now the thing that makes this event so appealing is that for 75 – 90 players there will be a prize pool of 1.4 – 1.6 Million due to the Re-buys. Last year there were 226 re-buys from 78 players. There was a rumor during the 2006 WSOP that Daniel Negreanu had a prop bet that he could make it further in the event then some else which cause him to rebuy over 20 times, however the rumor also had it that the bet was worth more then the 1st place money. To give you an idea of the competition you would face in this event the six players that made the money last year where (Erik Seidel 1st, Chad Brown 2nd, Shawn Sheikhan 3rd, Lamar Wilkinson 4th, Andrew Black 5th, Freddy Deeb 6th, and Todd Brunson 7th and 7th place was worth almost $52,000). Players will begin this event with 10,000 in chips and at anytime in the first 3 hours if they are below 10,000 in chips they may re-buy. After the first 3 rounds players may make a single add on for 5k or a double add on (20k in chips) for 10k, rounds will last 60 minutes. This event is likely to see some ESPN coverage maybe not a lot but some for sure.

Event #19 Pot Limit Omaha Tuesday June 10th 12pm
This is an event that I am most interested in Pot Limit Omaha or PLO as it’s referred to is such a beautiful gameJ. This event will carry a $1,500 and give players 3,000 chips to do battle with. In the 37th WSOP this event drew 578 entrants and left 1st place with just under 200k. This is an action type event your not going to get a lot of pots where only 2 players are seeing a flop. The neat thing about this event is that at any time a player may only bet as much as is in the pot. The levels will last 60 minutes in this event.

Event #20 Limit Hold’em Tuesday June 10th 5pm
This will be a hit or miss event as many players will feel that with the limit format they will get more bang for there buck. It will not be unreasonable to expect around 500 or so entrants, that will all start with 4,000 in chips and be vying for a 1st place prize of around a quarter million dollars. This event will have 60 minute levels, and a buy-in of $2,000.

Event #21 No-limit Hold’em Wednesday June 11th 12pm
This is the highest buy-in yet for a No-limit event of the 39th WSOP, with a price tag of $5,000. This will leave players with 10,000 in chips and playing 60 minute levels. Last year 640 players contended for $730,740 this year can expect a small increase on those numbers but likely nothing substantial. This event can expect to either receive ESPN or WSOP Live coverage.

Event #22 H.O.R.S.E. Wednesday June 11th 5pm
This is the second mixed event of the year and first of two H.O.R.S.E. events. The acronym stands for Hold’em, Omaha, seven card Razz, Seven card stud, seven card stud Eight or better hi/low. In this event the games will change every eight hands, levels will be 60 minutes and players will begin with 6,000 in chips. Last year in a similar event ($2,500 Buy-in) there were 382 entrants vying for just under a quarter million, this should stay about the same.

Event #23 No-limit Hold’em Thursday June 12th 12pm

This is the 2nd $2,000 buy-in No-limit Hold’em for this year and like the previous one it can expect numbers of around 1,500 – 1,700 entrants all competing for nearly 600k. Players will start with 4,000 chips with the blinds increasing every 60 minutes.

Event #24 Pot Limit Hold’em/Omaha Thursday June 12th 5pm
This is another mixed event, this one being a mixed Pot limit event as discussed previously this limits players to betting only as much as is in the pot. With a $2,500 buy-in this is certainly an event that should draw a decent size field, as it’s a new event for the WSOP I can only speculate something in the area of 1,000 players which should leave in the 300k range for 1st. Each entrant will receive 5,000 in chips and see the blinds increase every 60 minutes, with the game changing every nine hands.

Event #25 World Championship Head’s Up No-limit Hold’em Friday June 13th 12pm

Now here is an exciting event, the Head’s up championship. With a Buy-in of $10,000 it is the 4th of this years World Championship events. This year the event has been limited to 256 entrants. Levels will be 20 minutes until the round of 32 then the levels will increase to 30 minutes till the final four where levels will be 40 minutes. Once heads up the final 2 players will play a best of three format. You can expect to see some big names in this limited and exclusive field. This event received coverage from ESPN and you can be sure they will be covering it again. With a prize pool of 2.5 million first place can expect to take home about 600k.

Event #26 Seven Card Razz Friday June 13th 5pm
Razz is a form of Seven card stud however unlike the majority of poker forms the idea here is to make the worst hand and not the best (The Nuts is 5,4,3,2,A). This is another event that should see a limited field due to the game not being spread in many places. Last years field of 341 should stay fairly similar as well as the 1st place haul of $130,000. Last years field included Katja Thater 1st, Mark Vos 6th, Men the Master 8th, David Oppenheim 15th, Jennifer Harman 22nd and David Skalansky 30th. This is a field that will not be for the light of heart in a game that can rattle even the strongest of players. Players will begin the day with 3,000 chips and limits will increase every 60 minutes.

Event #27 No-limit Hold’em Saturday June 14th 12pm
This is the 3rd of the $1,500 No-limit Hold’em events, and with a reigning champion by the almost un-heard of name of Phil Helmuth Jr. who coincidentally has won a measly Eleven Gold Bracelets. Last year Phil Helmuth bested a field of almost 2,700 to capture the 11th bracelet and took home $637,254 for his efforts this years field should be about the same. All entrants will begin the day with 3,000 chips and compete over 60 minute levels.

Event #28 Pot Limit Omaha w/Re-buys Saturday June 14th 5pm
This event will carry a prize tag of $5,000 per buy-in and an additional 5k for every re-buy. Each entrant will start with 10,000 in chips and like other events may re-buy anytime they are under that amount. In last years WSOP 145 players entered and combined for 450 re-buys collectively. To give you an idea of the field you will be up against should you choose this event as the one you wish to enter some of the players who cashed last year include David “Devil Fish” Ulliot 3rd 349k, John Juanda 7th 112k, Humberto Brenes 8th 83k, Robert Williamson III 10th 41k, Andrew Black 11th 41k, David “Chip” Reese 12th 41k, Jeffery Lisandro 13th 35k, Mike Sexton 15th 35k, Hoyt Corkins 16th 30k and Chau Giang 18th 30k. So if you feel your up to the task I wish you the best of luck. The levels will increase every 60 minutes and after the 3rd level the re-buys will end.

Well to all of you who are reading my reviews I would like to thank you and hope that you have found the event(s) that you wish to enter if not there is more to come. So stay safe, play smart, and let your Nuts Hold up!! Especially in Omaha.
