The World Poker Tour (WPT) announced through a series of press releases that it has expended its brand by creating an official ladies poker league with its own No Limit Texas Hold’em tournament circuit called WPT Ladies. This tour allows female players to compete without having to pay the large buy-ins the standard WPT tournaments require. The WPTL events consist of tournaments with buy-ins ranging from $300 – $1,500. Also much like the original WPT, winners of these events will receive an entry into a championship event, this time the WPT Ladies’ Championship.
“Women are a rising force in poker,” said Robyn Moder, executive vice president of WPT Studios. “By bringing a WPT ladies league and tour stops to top gaming destinations across the US, we hope to support and perpetuate the evolution of the sport and recognition of the women who play.”
