Default My fisrt WSOP cash!!!!!!!

Brag post.......

I had my first cash in a WSOP event on Saturday. It was the $1500 nl event #39 I think. I cashed for $2980. Went out at 230 and was the second money level. The tourny sold out at 2700 players and payed 270. 1st place was 633,000.

It was a great experience to finally get a cash in a wsop event. It was alot of fun. The hand I went out on is still giving me nightmares. I was pretty shortstacked for quite awile and am playing basic push or fold poker.

We are five minutes till breaking for the day and returning at 2:00 the next. I get QQ in middle position. UTG raises to 4k (blinds are 600-1200). I push for 13700 total. Guy on my left tanks and folds, he later said he had AK.

Folded to original raiser and he calls and shows JJ. Sweet right.

Flop is like ... A 9 4
Turn ... 10
River ... J

GG me. If I win that pot Im almost an average stack coming into day 2. I would finally have some chips to play with and see if I can make a real run at this. Oh well. It was fun and Im still in vegas for about 4 more days. It is amazing how much action there is out here and not just at the rio.

Congratulations on the cash and my sympathies for the sick FN river, ugh that part of the story sucks.

I'll be getting to Vegas late Sunday Night - if you happen to run hot and extend your trip lets meet up.

I'm playing Event 52 which has the same structure as the one you played. It seems like the starting stack and the blinds, considering it is live, is comparable for a PokerStars MTT - did you get the same feeling that its similar in terms of structure. If you have any tips for this event or anything that would be helpful to share on Vegas during the WSOP in general would love to hear them.

Again congrats on the cash!

Wow congrats on the cash man. That is pretty sweet.

How are you finding the tournament play down there? Good, weak, tough? Also, are you playing any cash games? Would love to hear a report about it.

Thanks Jim. Yea the structure is pretty good and like a pokerstars mtt I would guess.

3k starting chips blinds starting at 25-50 with hour long rounds. The blinds increased at a very reasonable rate. I felt like I got a lot of play for the buyin.

The Rio as to be expected is a complete zoo. There is so much action floating around that place right now it is ridiculous.

There is also a ton of action around town with some really good tournies running also. The Venetian Deep stack tournies are pretty sweet too for lesser buyins than at the WSOP. I think they start at $330 and go up to $2000. These ones are great and they have the same structure as the WSOP events (I believe) but you start with 15K in chips.

I think Ceasars is running something similar so you may want to check those places out also if your not looking to a lot of wsop events. Not sure what your role and if its more like mine is than these other tournies are more reasonable.

One last thing, the last chance events are a pretty good value imo. They run at 7 or 8, you might want to check them out.

GL Jim, let me know what events you are playing and when you leave. If I get a decent hit in the next couple of days I might make a return trip. I leave Sat. morning so I think I just miss you.

Thanks Aidan, I found the play to be decent but not great. In the WSOP event I played against Joe Awada, and Alex Kessler who are pros I think. There are a lot of guys kind of like me who are good online players and are taking some shots in some events.

And there are a lot of just average players. You see them make some mistakes and know that there not that strong, but they are not horrible either. And there is always the loose asians who like to splash around.

I feel the players atleast from my experience, were well I guess I would say that I am definitely better than the average. I know I can play with these guys and outplay alot of them and if I run well I can get deep.

Anyway, Ive played one cash game since being here and that was 10-20 limit. I got there late and the game was starting to break. I still got about 2-3 hours of play in. Played a lot 5 and 6 handed which is right up my ally and even played 3 handed for about an hour. I ran pretty hot and made about 500.

This 10-20 limit game is mainly the game I think I have the best chance of beating since I am a limit player. If I think it is beatable and Im running well I might sit some 20-40. Im going back to the Rio to play it tonight and get a pretty good 5-6 hours at least to see I think it is beatable. Ill let you know what I think after a decent session or two.

Some of the other guys Im staying with think the 2-5 nl games are pretty soft, and one guy was playing 25-25 nl and thought it was a decent game.

I'll be playing Event 52, Event 53, a $1060 Mega Satellite to M.E and then finding a lower buy-in tournament $350 range to play if time permits.
I get in at 11:40 PM on June 29th
I'm scheduled to leave in the morning on July 4th, but if I get a M.E seat will be there longer.

Keep us posted.

You guys watch - 5 years from now I am going to bump this thread
By that time this forum will have new members that joined 2 years from now, 3 years prior to the time of the bump, and will have a few bracelet winners that have several hundred posts. Our WSOP discussions will have lot of people blogging from Vegas and keeping each other updated

I'm sure with our size now most others don't see this, but I 100% do!
