Penguins vs Red Wings

As you should all be aware Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings are meeting in the Cup Finals. It is still unclear who the favorite or underdog of the series is. Detroit has the leadership and experience, while Pittsburgh has great offensive depth. The teams can't even go back on previous records since they have only once in the last three years.

What are you predictions for the series?

I say Penguins in 6.

Not at all a hockey expert but I think the Penguins are the much more fun team to watch. Also expect them to be around +125 for the series and to win six.

I had about 130dollars riding on Norway Vs Germany in the Hockey World Championship. The odds was 6.00

They held Canada to 2-2 in regular time the match before.

Norway was down 2-0. And I though the bucks where lost. But thay managed to win 3-2, which was a historical victory for the Norway team. Jippi. Double joy!

It's not that much of a fuzz in Norway, but I bet the Sweeds and Finnish people are going mad - since they are great hockey nations. We are a litle league nation, so not too much fuzz, but people lifted their eyebrows pretty high by our teams results this time.

Ah man, what the hell is going on here? I was actually just about to create a Redwings Penguins thread, and saw this one, which was good to see.

But you people are fucking loony, seriously.

As a life long Detroit Redwings fan, I'm going Wings all the way. They're the better team, with better leadership combined with better defense (Lidstrom/Chelios), they've got the better goal keeper, they've got better coaching, and they've got the youth also, (Datsyuk/Zetterberg).

Wings take this in 6 games. They'll have to really donk it up in every single game to lose. And I don't see that happening, as they will be very determined after last year's dissapointing first round loss to the Ducks.

I agree the Redwings should be favored but at +145 the Penguins need to win just 40% of the time for this to be a break even wager.
I don't see the Wings as a 60/40 favorite here, and the Penguins are lights out at home, however if the Wings take the first two then yeah it has the potential to be ugly,

Also add the Penguins having an easy series against a depleted Flyers team with lots of time to look ahead to the equation.

Well I'm glad to see there are still some Detroit fans left out there, I have a hard time noticing if there are with all the empty seats at their games.

I have to disagree on a couple statements that you have made. Especially you saying that Detroit has the better goal tender. This is where I feel Penguins have a huge advantage. Osgood is old and hasn't looked brilliant in the playoffs unlike Fleury.

Coaching, I can't argue with you here. Babcock is an unreal coach and the leadership/experience the Redwings have gives Wings an edge. Although, the Penguins coaching staff are no slouches either. They play a simple system and their defensive game is often overlooked by their heavy firepower upfront. Since Detroit has Lidstrom that makes Detroit the better defensive team. That guy is unreal.

Another edge I feel the penguins have is the ability to roll out four lines. Penguins offensive depth is very strong and the forth line is heavily trusted. One can't say the same for Detroit.

I still say Penguins in 6!

This is a great final though, the kids vs the vets.

Well Detroit up 1-0 but home teams in game 1 and 3 are normal. Final was 4-0 but it was not that bad, Penguins looked nervous and most the goals were late in game when Penguins were pressing.
I'm still optimistic here.
