Plays at: Cake, Party | For a number of reasons. They try and pass themselves off as the main source for poker news (since no news source publishes anything poker related unless its main stream news, like a WSOP ME winner) but all of their news "articles" are clearly biased, one would assume because of advertising dollars. Things like the AP and UB scandals get little to no coverage, at most they post the straight from the source press release from AP/UB and leave it at that, forget actually doing any legitimate research or journalism on the topic. Half of their posts are clearly advertisements and spam for their affiliations with the sites they're reporting on, like a Cake article they posted yesterday: http://www.cardplayer.com/poker-news...equent-players The article is basically advertisement for Cake, and then the link at the bottom has a Cardplayer affiliate URL, obviously Cardplayer is getting something out of this. I mean, its one thing to have a bonus section or something, but for a published magazine to try and pass that off as actual news is just annoying. And pretty much all of their other articles are tournament recaps, tournament info, more tournament related interviews, tournament crap, etc etc etc. Not everyone in the world loves tournaments, even though yes its probably what the majority of half hearted poker fans follow. But they have little to no online poker content, cash game content. It just bothers me. They have the resources and name brand to be a big news source but instead they just collect advertising dollars and dont publish anything with any real substance. 2+2 and other forums/affiliate sites are the only places with unbiased opinions these days it seems. |
