Default WSOP Bracelet or $250K? Your Choice

Which would you rather have, a WSOP bracelet or $250K.
Let make it a more realistic example:

Say money deals were allowed in a WSOP and you were heads up even in chips and you feel you're a slight dog or even money at best.

The payouts are $500K to first | $250K to second

Your discussing a chop when your opponent says "I just want the bracelet if I win you can have the $500K i'm fine with $250K and a bracelet"

please don't respond with the cheating element, this is assuming deals are allowed and this deal is 100% ethical and legally binding.

The real question is you have a bankroll (at least $250K per this example) which now is more imporant to you $250K cash or the bracelet.

discuss.

Cash - If I had everything and realy realy realy wanted that bracelet, sure, if I could afford it, Id spend 250k to get it.
But, no jewelry is worth 250k, seriously. Give me the money.

Hmmm.. no contest here for me.

If I were a seasoned pro [a Ferguson or an Ivey] I guess I'd have plenty of money and just be into the 'bragging rights'.

But if I was a 1st time winner... show me da $$$!!

Interesting responses so far.
See I'm the exact opposite. I feel like money comes and goes, but a WSOP bracelet is something money can't buy. I'm not sure I would of felt like this ten years ago or not but turning 29 soon I'm sure now I feel this way for sure.
For you guys that don't know me.. I made a lot of money when I was a teenager and the internet was brand new, but I lost it all and then some falling into what felt like insurmountable debt. After a couple years of depression (which the loss of millions of dollars caused) during which time I was playing poker as a prop only enough to pretty much get by I finally got back on my feet and got back into the business side of poker.
A short off topic note on that, is I don't think I would of been so motivated into getting into the business side if it had not been for seeing so many big sites promoting scum bag sites. I watched players money go down with a sinking ship where it could of been avoided so many times.. and also I felt the support in the industry was kind of a joke.. this is what motivated me to get started more than money.
When I think back now though even when I was making LOTS of money it was never really about money. It was all about the challenge, the thrill of rewards that come from hard work, smart decisions, and good investment that was the driving factor.
I'll admit I perhaps don't respect money as much as I should so it will come and go more often but I'm still responsible and all with money being the motivating challenge.. all a wash in the end.
Anyways thats a little about me, I'm most certainly the type that would rather have the bracelet even if i was close to flat broke, knowing I've never worried about money in my life even though there were times others would have.

It's not even close, the cash. I wouldn't even be in the tourney unless I got there by a sattellite. I'm happy to just get my buy in back

The bracelet itself would be worth less than 10k for me. I'd take 10k as my minimum in exchange for a WSOP bracelet. They're cool but how lame would you look wearing it in poker rooms etc.

All I want it the money F the fame im a simple man. If I ever won a bracelet I would sell it on ebay and give the cash to charity. Sure winning an event is a big deal but im just an idiot and nobody would remember me 2 days after the event unless you happen to win your second, then people say "wow mabye this guy can play a little bit"

Jim might remember a big fat A-hole named Bob Perry from Foxwoods. He has a bracelet (I think from the late 80's)

I think I know who you're talking about but I'm not sure. He's "big fat" or just a "major asshole"? The guys I'm thinking of is named bob, was a regular but I don't recall him having a bracelet. He was still there regularly early 2000's would not consider him huge fat, if he was big then then I'm thinking of another Bob.

There's only one guys I recall that used to flaunt his bracelet from time to time and his name is like on the tip of my tongue but can't think if it. Heavy smoker, a bit on thinner side, real rugged looking guy, wore black foxwoods Royal Flush jacket all the time which looked like it had also taken a beating. He was a great tournament player though and kind of a nice guy, like he'd chat later when smoking was banned, even one time asked me about hand during a break which caught me off guard that he'd actually want my opinion on a hand because I didn't get much respect from a lot of the older tournament players being so young - let alone the guys who flaunted his WSOP bracelet from time to time. ugh short name can't remember it "not a Dave or Mike type short name either".

Keep in mind I started playing at Foxwoods when I was 17 so I made a point not to get to know all that many people. When I turned 21 i took a couple years off and I came back wearing PokerStars hat and shirt during a preliminary WPT tournament blending in with all the internet people and with the room being packed then figuring I could hopefully start playing as myself now. What happened was pretty funny because some people recoginized me obviously and started calling me Stars and then for the rest of my life at Foxwoods I became known as Stars. The dealers changed a lot but the floor still calls me Stars to this day.

His win was back when the fields were only a few hundred players. I forget the circumstances of how he won. He wasn't a major league asshole but he was very fat. He won a tourney at foxwoods in the late 90's too, I remember thinking money goes to money because right after than he put like 50$ in a 1$ slot and hit the jackpot for another 14K. Then played in some huge PLO game and beat that too. He got his bankroll from some fake injury insurance scam. There must be a website somewhere that lists all winners since the start. He would of been playing probably 10/20 while you were going

I'd probably take the cash. My financial situation isn't so great I could turn down 250k.

However, I'd say the braclet would be nice, but it wouldn't feel "real" to me if I "bought" it. I'd have to win it to feel like I really deserve it.

Hold'em?
I now recall a real arrogant asshole that played 5/10 kill just a couple years ago. He acknowledged me one time like he knew me, looked at me and said "hey how you been?" when he sat down but I did not recognize him at all and based on being such an asshole to everyone else, I figured I must have known him at one time. I played a few days later and he was at same game again he is huge very obese, and seemed to get treated well by the floor, like special treatment. No idea if his name was Bob, but it would make sense if that was him.

This guy would be about 60 now. Arrogant yes, but I doubt the floor would like him.

I'm not good with peoples ages at all, he was for sure older I can't tell different from 45 to 65 (random ex: can't tell difference from 25-35 either)
This guy like near tore a waitresses head off over something stupid, made fun of way dealer spoke (Asian dealer), and then floor would come by and see how he was doing?. Anyways no idea who he was but it was freaking annoying as all hell. Funny thing was he'd joke towards me as if I was his frend or something. No clue, he wasnn't funny and I couldn't stand the asshole but somehow he thought we were buddies.

I would want to play for the bracelet. If we were about even stacked and from the example given, I would suggest we each take 350k and play for the extra 50k and the bacelet.

If Im already getting 250k minimum I am not passing up the oppurtunity to win a bracelet. I may never be in that close of a situation ever again. A bracelet is epic even if its in a prelim event.

I would want to win it myself though and not have the guy just give it to me.

Yes the example I gave does not involve having anyone give you the bracelet. It was more like, would you sell the opportunity to win a bracelet for an amount of money, even if you had a good payday already locked up.

Personally I don't care about the "actual bracelet", I'd throw it in a box with my gold and silver coins and probably not do much with it again, but the opportunity to win one I would never pass up.
