Who are the real WSOP winners?

I'm not sure I have ever heard any detailed WSOP stats that considered profitablity rather that just revenue. some of the guys showing 1 million in tournament winnings may be close to breaking even I suspect, especially with the 50K horse and new 40K holdem event, playing the WSOP can cost a lot of money.

I'll bet that there would be some real surprises as to who was winning and losing if someone actually compiled all of this data. However, Im guessing that the top money winners would remain the same, because I doubt that hachem and moneymaker have played enough to even come close to offsetting their big wins...even if they never cashed again.

A good debate is do you count there sponsorship money or not? At the Rio they announced more than 3/4 of the field to the $40K event had there buy-ins paid for by sponsors.

If you count sponsorship money more all the million dollar winners are mega ahead. If not I don't know but there are still quite a few. Not in the mood to make a list but I'd guess there are a LOT more than most people would guess.

Plus so many of these players buy action into each other. I can't remember the name of the one guy Bax or something, (jim knows who I'm talking about) but him and another guy stake many players and end up putting a shit load of money into each event. It seems like most of the guys they stake have gambling issues and other money spending issues, but at poker they have an excellent ROI and are solid investments.
