Prefers: Texas Hold'em | Some players have sort of tried this, but they haven't really played the angle well enough. I have been thinking lately that poker doesn't really have a mysterious kaiser solce figure. I would suggest this to a player who makes it deep in the main event this year. Don't show your hole cards. Don't speak much, don't be rude either, but don't be nice when you talk. Do interviews, but only to say "I don't do interviews". When you do speak, just grumble and act like "whatever you are talking about doesn't interest me, and Im very mad about it", as if the whole world was a pain in your ass. I guess you are sort of going for the "unlikable" personality, which usually isnt very successful. The only way to be succesful with this would be to play very well and have very good results. Brand yourself as sort of a mystery, a phenom like no other. Like I said, you can't be a dick to anyone or insult people, you just want to be sort of dark. People wont like you at first, but if you are a sick poker player, they will appreciate you in the same way that they envy notorious criminals. Its not because they like you, its because you do what they want to do, but you also emcompass the age old stigma image of an outlaw poker player who doesnt care. |
