Plays at: PokerStars Prefers: $8/$16 O.E | Poker is always about money, always has been always will be.. but I like how a lot of players treat the WSOP more like a sport. One of the better acts I recall recently of sportsman ship is when Andy Black went out of his way to try and delay the restart of the Main event late because one of the players had been confused about the length of the break. I'm sure there have been many others, but can't think off the top of my head of good ones in the past.. but yesterday read about another. In the semi final of the $10K buy-in Heads up Championship semi final match Vanessa Selbst v. Alec Torelli ,Toreli was missing and after a wait the tournament director said if he did not show up in 5 minutes the tournament would start without him. Selbst responded by saying even if the tournament clock started that she won't take any of his chips, would sit out too. I know this goes a little beyond just being fair as no one wants to come that far and win only because someone else didn't show up or anything like that, they want the bracelet / victory to be real.. but its cool no matter what. I didn't really like Selbst all that much before that, but now seeing all the success she's had an that she showed that much sportsmanship, my opnion of her just went up many notches. Next time I see her at a final table I'll be more likely to pull for her to win.. unless myself or a friend is at it of course obv. |
