Default Forum Contest - $350 for Best Poker Strategy Posts

Due to schedule conflicts with staff being in Vegas this contest has been extended an extra week. the dates listed below are correct

This contest should be a great opportunity to members considering our forum is brand new and does not have many members just yet. Here’s how it works:

All posts made from now until July 7th in our Poker Strategy Section will be considered for post of the month nomination. On July 8st and 9th the forum mods and admins will get together and determine the top ten for nomination.

We will then ask for feedback from members on which articles they feel are the best, and an assigned group of judges (privately selected) will read the articles as well as feedback from members and make a decision by July 15th on which articles they fell are best, ranked 1st through 10th.

We will then award prizes as follows:
1st place: $125 + Custom forum title
2nd place: $75 + Custom forum title
3rd place: $50 + Custom forum title
4th place: $25 + Custom forum title
5th place: $15 + Custom forum title
6th place: $10 + Custom forum title

We will also issue a $50 cash prize to the best overall commenter on others poker strategy threads.

Winners will be paid on their choice of transfer at Cake Poker, PokerStars, Full Tilt or Carbon Poker (some alternate payment arrangements might also be possible depending on location and request).

Custom Forum Title is the name that appears under your user name: We’ll give you the ability to edit your own title as often you would like.

There are a couple rules which must be followed for consideration:
1) Your entry must be unique. It can not be a copied and pasted or paraphrased version of someone else’s article, and also should not be an article you have posted or will post on other forums or websites.
2) Posts must be made in our poker strategy forum, example: not Poker News forum, not in the watchdog forums, etc etc.

Member can submit as many articles as they would like, however no more than two will be nominated and each member is only eligible for one prize. This means if your;re nominated articles come in first and second, the second place will be ignored and will roll up therefore (3rd place becomes 2nd place.. 4th place becomes 3rd place etc..)

Judges are selected privately in order to hopefully reduce friendship biases etc. Their information will be kept private so we can all point fingers at unknown persons if someone we like does not win

We reserve the right to add additional rules we had not thought of at the time of this post; however prize pool will not be lowered. We’ll be doing our best in good faith to run this contest as honest and unbiased as possible however this is of course the type of contest that relies on the opinion of judges, so some members might feel the 8th place finisher should of been 1st etc. There is not much we can do to avoid that; we’ll simply do our best to make it fair.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please post them in this thread.

Good luck everyone, the contest is now open

I apologize for any inconvenience this causes, but it seemed the best way to make this contest fair is to extend it an additional week - as last minute plans have come up and much of our staff will be in Vegas when the contest was scheduled to end.

I edited the post above, and the dates are now correct. There is an outside chance judging will be delayed a day or two as well, if so an addition will be made to the prize pool - the deadline for qualifying posts will not change any further, period!

Contest results:

The closest race of the contest was between best response:

I asked each of three people to nominated the top three responses and the names that came up were Diz 2x, DrSliq 2x each with a 1st and 2nd place vote followed by Rapalsa JuniorJunior - it was close between DrSliq and Diz in the end and knowing him had nothing to do with the decision I took a tie breaker vote from the one judge who did not have either on there list this judge had Rapsla #1, Junior Junior #2 and Hanslopez #3 and voted DrSliq.

So DrSliq is our $50 winner for best commentor - though this race was really close.

The contest winners were pretty clear cut for the top 2 posts - and the bottom four went to a few tie breakers.

Here are winners in order:

Lirva wins $10 for Do you make this call?/ Rate this play

Hanslopez wins $15 for [10/20 6 max] 33

chimaera15 wins $25 for Chassing the flush draw

JuniorJunior wins $50 for Poker vs Life

Leviathan wins $75 for 4betting AK should be default

Rapala wins $125 for Semi bluffing in limit hold'em

Ability to add custom forum title is coming. To claim cash prize please PM me your username and site you would like to be transfered on.
