Doyle Brunson (born August 10, 1933) is an accomplished professional poker player nicknamed by his peers as both the “Living Legend of Poker” and “The Godfather of Poker”. Brunson has been playing professionally for more than fifty years during which time he became the first player to win one-million dollars in tournaments, the first multiple World Series of Poker (WSOP) main event championships, the second player to reach ten overall WSOP bracelet victories, and the first player to have won both WSOP Main Event Championship and a World Poker Tour (WPT) Title.

On October 19, 2004 the World Poker Tour, then in its third season, renamed one of their Bellagio Las Vegas events to honor the Doyle Brunson. In 2009, the event was titled the Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic.
