With over 15 cashes in high stakes poker events, a WPT title, and close to $4 million in career winnings Nick Schulman generally is one of the more accomplished players at any final table he makes. However, last night was not an ordinary final table; this was the 2-7 NL Lowball world championship which attracts the biggest names in poker, most looking to add additional bracelets to their already impressive collections. Despite the tough company he was matched up against, in the end Schulman added one of the few things his poker resume was missing, when he defeated Finnish poker sensation Villie Wahlbeck heads up in the final.

Two years ago (at age 21) Jeff Carris moved to Las Vegas to pursue a career as career as a professional poker player. At the time it was about the cash / making a living. Well last night it became much more than that as he joined the exclusive club of WSOP bracelet winners while picking up $313,673 first place prize money. In his quest for the bracelet he needed to get through many big name pros including Steve Billirakis who finished in 23rd, Chau Giang (16th), Gavin Smith (10th), and Matt “Hoss_TBF” Hawrilenko (8th).

23-year-old John-Paul (JP) Kelly started playing poker seriously in 2004, and since that time has racked up a plethora of cashes in both live and online tournaments. At PokerStars he goes by the handle JP 5-time where he has $628,078 in cashes, at other sites he’s known as MavFish where he has hundreds of thousands in cashes as well. As far as live tournaments goes coming into 2009 WSOP Event 20 he had 28 major cashes under his belt totaling close to $500,000 in winnings, none of which were bigger than the $194,434 he won last night as he captured his first career WSOP bracelet.

After a two year dispute with Bodog and 1st Technology, the online gambling site has reclaimed and is now operating under domain name Bodog.com. Back in August 2007, Bodog lost rights to the domain and started using NewBodog.com and then eventually switched again to BodogLife.com. Now after the long hiatus Bodog is finally using Bodog.com again.

Brock Parker became the first multiple bracelet winner of the 2009 World Series of Poker last night by winning Event 19 – $2,500 NLHE 6 Max. His previous bracelet came just days earlier when he took down Event 14 – $2500 LHE 6 Max. With his victory Parker has now made $776,433 at the 2009 WSOP, and his amazing run of back-to-back bracelets brings back memories of Jeff Madsen in 2006 and John Phan in 2008.

Tom ‘durrrr’ Dwan and Patrik Antonius have played sessions 21, 22 and 23 during the World Series of Poker and so far Dwan’s luck has turned around and is now only down $34,595 after session 23. The two players have 33,882 hand remaining in the challenge, and it has become a very close race again.

26-year-old poker pro Daniel Alaei captured his second career WSOP bracelet night and his first world championship title as he bested a tough field in the $10,000 buy-in Omaha Hi/Lo championship. To do so he needed to get through a tough final table that included fan favorite Daniel Negreanu who was competing for his fifth WSOP bracelet, the infamous Annie Duke who recently finished runner up on celebrity apprentice, one of Australia’s top pros Sam Khouiss, and his eventual heads up opponent Scott Clements who has two WSOP bracelets both from Omaha Hi/Lo Events.

Lisa Hamilton moved from Hawaii to Las Vegas in 2005, and while she does not describe herself as a professional poker player she can be found playing in many of Las Vegas highest-stake No Limit Hold’em cash games quite often. Not a big fan of tournaments, Lisa Hamilton decided to give the ladies event a try anyways. In the end this decision paid off as she captured the 2009 WSOP Ladies event championship which included $195,390 first place prize money and a WSOP bracelet.

With this victory his WSOP accomplishments now include 27 WSOP cashes, 10 final table appearances, over $1.9 million in WSOP cashes and two bracelets.
