Betfair poker caught wind that eight time gold medalist Michael Phelps enjoys playing poker and would love to play in the World Series of Poker. After hearing this Betfair has decided that they would be willing to pay Phelps way into the WSOPE and recommended he wear his LZR swim suit.

The all-star field is set for the third annual Million Dollar Cash game that will be played out in London England on September 17th and 18th. The cash game has a minimum buy-in of £100,000 and a few of the players that have been invited are: Phil Hellmuth, Tom Durrr Dwan, David Benyamine, Mike Matusow and Phil Ivey.

Hoyt Corkins house was professionally robbed last week after criminals were able to get past a gated and guarded community of Spanish Trails in Las Vegas, Nevada. The perpetrators gained entry into the house after cutting out a hole in Corkins’ garage. From there they stole Hoyt’s WSOP bracelets, WPT titles and several other poker memorabilia. Other high ticket items that were stolen were his Harley, Vehicles and over $10,000 in cash.

Poker After Dark is leaving their set at South Point casino after four years of filming and the fifth season will be filmed in the events center called “The Grand” at the Golden Nugget Casino. The fifth season plan is to continue to bring creative ways to play short handed poker after the success of the creative season four which is still airing new episodes.

PKR has turned two years old on August 17 2008, and they can look back and be very proud of what they’ve accomplished. Since their launch date, PKR has over 2 million members making them the fastest growing poker room that does not allow American players and the second fastest growing site overall.

The World Poker Tour has received yet another blow to its business as they have received a letter of Determination from NASDAQ stock exchange. The letter was issued on August 14th and notified the World Poker Tour Enterprise that they are not in compliance with the minimum stock closing price requirements. NASDAQ requires closing bids to be over $1.00 and their closing bid hasn’t been over $1.00 since July 1st. The WPTE now has 180 calendar days to regain compliance by trading the stock over $1.00 for a minimum of 10 consecutive days.

The online poker home of poker legend Johnny Chan will be closing its virtual doors forever tomorrow August 21, 2008. This news was first confirmed last night by the Head of Chan Poker’s marketing department on a poker affiliate radio show and was then posted on their website this morning.

Carbon Poker launched a major update to their poker software today which added a new side game, fixed backgammon bugs, added a new poker lobby filter and improved buddy lists and player searches. Feedback posted on popular online poker forums regarding the the update has so far been all positive.

PokerStars is returning their Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas at the world famous Atlantis Resort and Casino. The line up should be full of dazzling professionals especially since the European Poker Tour is also there for a stop. The tournament series begins January 4th and will run to the 10th.

On September 9th, 2008 at the Barcelona Open PokerStars and the European Poker Tour will be hosting the first ever awards ceremony praising the most exceptional poker players and people of season four of the EPT. There are seven different categories of awards to be given away and two of the categories are open voting, meaning that the public has influences on who wins the award.
