Harrah’s Entertainment has recently released the schedule for the 2008 World Series of Poker Europe, which takes place in London, England. This years WSOPE has a few changes including four bracelet events and five non-bracelet events. Also a major addition is that ESPN will be providing coverage of the series and will be shown in 2008.

Marty Smyth has had plenty of poker success in recent years having a 3rd place and 2nd place finish back to back years in the Ladbrokes Millions as well as a first place win in both the PaddyPower Irish Cup and the Party Poker world open but until last night he hadn’t had considerable WSOP success to speak of. This all changed last night when he became the fifth Ireland Native ever to win a WSOP bracelet while he also took down the World Championship of Omaha, which packed the largest Omaha tournament first place payout in history of a whopping $859,549.

Alexander Gomes won the first WSOP bracelet of his career while winning Brazil the first of the 2008 World Series of Poker when he took down the $2,000 buy-in No Limit Hold’em outlasting the field of 2,316 entrants. His performances also earned him $770,540 top place prize money.
