Nearly, a year ago Dubai World and MGM went in business together to build a $5.1 billion CityCenter megacasino. However, after the exciting announcement things aren’t looking to good as MGM and Dubai World are late raising $3.5 billion in order to fund the project. The share prices are also being reflected as in October 2007, MGM shares were over $100 and now around $200 per share.

Pow! The most popular and best tv poker show will be returning to the Game Show Network, which will be the 5th season of High Stakes Poker. Consequently, it looks like poker on television is not dead yet as this news was shortly released after Fox Sports picked up the rights to broadcast the World Poker Tour’s newest season.

The new season of NBC’s Poker After Dark continues with the third installment of the new format experiments. The new season opened its first week with a cash game format as apposed to its typical 6 handed freeze-out winner take all format. The second week saw a return to the regular format after the cash game was considered a success. This week NBC is doing a little cross promotion event taking the Four champions from the National Heads Up Poker Championship. The players that will be battling it out are Phil Hellmuth, Chris Ferguson, Ted Forrest and Paul Wasicka.

This past week the Toronto Police and the Organized Crime Section Illegal Gambling Unit raided at least four illegal gambling clubs. The clubs were ran in businesses with one of them being a restaurant called Garden of Eden and not in private residences. As a result, 5 adults charged ranged in age from 19 to 88.

Fox Sports Net (FSN) and the World Poker Tour (WPT) have announced a partnership and FSN will be exclusively airing season 7 of the WPT. “The World Poker Tour has a track record as the ultimate brand name in televised poker. FSN is very happy to televise such quality content and we look forward to future programming opportunities with the WPT.” spoke George Greenberg, FSN vice president of programming and production.

The StoxPoker team has been put up to play against the poker pot named Polaris that was created at the University of Alberta in Edmonton. This year they played at the Rio All-Suite Casino Hotel in Las Vegas during the Gaming Life Expo at the World Series of Poker. Last year Phil Laak and his buddy (not Antonio!) were able to beat Polaris, however Polaris underwent some changes and are now playing against even tougher opponents. There may not be any more World Series of Poker events left, but there is the final nine players left out of the Main Event that will play the final table on November 9th. As dumb as it may seem to the poker world; no one can argue the fact that it hasn’t added suspense and publicity to the WSOP. Everest Poker is known to run very innovative promotions and they have just added two new ones that are high in value for both experienced and beginner players. The first promotion is for players that compete for the tournament leaderboard. Any player who makes it into the top 32 of the three leaderboards that Everest Poker runs they will qualify for the $20,000 Heads Up Challenge. The next promotion is a $2,500 Bankroll Builder freeroll for inexperienced poker players.

PokerNews.com is the latest poker media site to disassociate themselves from Ultimate Bet and their sister site Absolute Poker.com. For those not familiar these two online poker rooms have been caught in many lies and were the host of many scandals involving both high ranking employees as well as dysfunctional software that was used to access players hole cards and steal millions in cumulative dollars from poker players. The latest announcement from Poker News suggests the company’s unethical business practices go deeper than just the world of online poker.
