PokerStars has announced Kathy Liebert as the newest member of Team PokerStars. Liebert is fresh off a 3rd place finish in Event #1 of the 2008 World Series of Poker. She’s had numerous big tournament cashes over the years including a Party Millions title and a WSOP bracelet. She currently is approaching 5 million dollars in career tournament winning giving her a massive lead as the winningest female poker player in poker tournament history.

Full Tilt Poker is expected to announce the signing of Finnish Poker sensation Patrik Antonius during a press conference this afternoon. Antonius was previously sponsored by a small poker skin operating on the 24H poker network named Martins Poker. His deal with this room ended in April and he’s since been rumored to have been playing a lot of high stakes poker at Full Tilt under the user name FinddaGrind. Antonius will become the fourteenth member of Team Full Tilt joining existing members Phil Ivey, Gus Hansen, Erik Seidel, Chris Ferguson, Andy Bloch, Allen Cunningham, John Juanda, Mike Matusow, Erick Lindgren, Howard Lederer, Jennifer Harman, Phil Gordon and Clonie Gowen as an ambassador to the site.

PokerStars has done more than their fare share in creating poker booms. Two of their company’s latest ventures are coming together in the APPT (Asian Pacific Poker Tour) and their new live poker room, PokerStars Macau. The APPT has been confirmed for season two and will include events in Australia, Philippians, New Zealand and Macau. One of the events is a ‘high rollers even’ which equates to about a $20,000 buy-in which will be held at PokerStars Macau. PokerStars hopes this high buy-in will attract some of the bigger names in poker.

Pacific Poker is the latest online poker room to go 3D. There latest software upgrade allows players to chose from one of three different table display modes including two 3D versions and a classic version. This same upgrade includes some other minor features such as the ability to remove the all in button. Pacific is now offering a reload bonus to celebrate the new software launch. If you haven’t played there in a while you’ll likely be impressed as well as amazed at how far the software has matured over the years.

Phil Ivey is apparently quite confident he’ll be winning bracelets this year. He’s rumored to be offering high stakes prop bets to anyone willing to give him 1.8 to 1. Apparently he already has half a million dollar bet with Ted Forrest that he’ll win two bracelets and another six figure prop bet with Daniel Negreanu on which of the two will win more bracelets at the 2008 WSOP. This seems to be one of the rare cases where Ivey has lost his mind, perhaps he’s setting players up for future bets or just feels charitable for some odd reason.

The second day of the 2008 World Series of Poker is now in the books. Today the final table was determined for Event 1 ($10K buy-in PLHE) and Andy Bloch has himself the chip lead. Also played today was Day 1A of the 2008 WSOP Event 2 ($1500 NLHE) which the events 3929 total entrants set a record for the most players to ever have entered a non-Main Event WSOP tournament.

The Game Show Network has not expressed much interest in bringing back the World Poker Tour for the shows seventh season, nor having any poker at all on their network for that matter. GSN previously had till May 24, 2008 to exercise its option to bring the show back and let that date pass without doing so. While we’ve not been able to reach them all comments, one can only imagine all 46 fans the WPT television show has are probably getting nervous.
