Jimmy Shultz had only been playing poker five years and the closest he had previously gotten to a live high stakes poker tournament was a vacation trip to last year’s series where he’d only watch, not entering any events. Well this year he came to the WSOP with a purpose, wearing a Charleston South Carolina fire department T-shirt throughout the event to remember his friend and eight other firefighters who lost their lives in a tragic accident one year ago. He came to this event for them, with a pledge to donate 25 percent of his winnings to the same fire department. In the end this high stakes tournament virgin would cash for over $250K in top place prize money and have a WSOP bracelet to show for his accomplishments
