Davidi Kitai became Belgium’s first WSOP bracelet winner a few nights ago when he outlasted Chris Bell in a five hour long gruesome heads up battle, taking down 2008 WSOP Event 38 – $2,000 Pot Limit Hold’em which carried with it a $244,546 top place prize.

David Benyamine won the first WSOP bracelet of his career last night when he took down the $10K buy-in Omaha Hi/Lo Championship – Event #37. He had come close several other times this Series as this was his third final table and he also had a tenth place finish a night earlier. When he came into last nights event he was arguably the best player in poker to have never won a bracelet, while getting that monkey off his back he picked up $535,687 top place prize money brining his total 2008 WSOP winnings to $941,652.

Denmark’s Jesper Hougaard played and coached table tennis for the National Team for years, but after watching the Great Dane Guys Hansen perform in WPT events he knew poker was the game for him… now he has something Hansen doesn’t, a WSOP gold bracelet.

June 20 marked day 22 of the 2008 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. Today we saw history made as Layne Flack proved he is still a force to be reckoned with on the poker circuit when he captured the sixth bracelet of his career. We also saw another final table reached, another event decided, another get its start and the $10K buy-in O8 championship played down to its final two tables. Michael Rocco could hardly gain control of his emotions as he sealed the deal on his first career WSOP bracelet. This was a day he had worked hard for his entire life, having paid his dues as a 7 Card Stud player since 1987 while also dealing at the Dunes. He won his first Stud Tournament back in 1991 at the Bike when he took down the 7th Annual Diamond Jim Brady event, and his only other Stud tournament victory had come in 2003 at Bellagio during the Five Diamond – WPT Season 2. He had quite the crowd in attendance and a lot of support from Cyndy Violette who saw her good friend let out shouts of emotions and then a few tiers as he accepted the bracelet and the $135,753 top place prize money.

Layne Flack came into last night’s final table wanting a bracelet big time. Back in 2003 when he won the fourth and fifth bracelets of his career his name started popping up in all time greatest player discussions but with only one final table since Flack’s name dropped off from such discussions. Last night he proved he is still a force to be reckoned with as he took down Event 34 – $1,500 Omaha with rebuys earning $577,710 top place prize money and the sixth bracelet of his career.

24 year-old German poker pro Sebastian Ruthenberg had a huge chip lead heading into last nights 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo World Championship final table, but standing in his way between him and his first career WSOP bracelet was five-time bracelet winner Chris Ferguson, the once highly respected female pro Annie Duke, top rated Netherland pro Marcel Luske, multi time WSOP and WPT final tablist Steve Sung and Italian poker pro Alessio Isaia. He managed to survive them all including an epic heads up match for the ages between himself and Chris Jesus Ferguson. At one point Ferguson had a 2.35 million to 400K chip lead but Sebastian Ruthenberg battled back and in the end stood victorious with his first career WSOP bracelet and the $328,756 top place prize money.

Jose Luis Velador entered the Event 32 WSOP final table. $1500 buy-in No Limit Texas Hold’em with a dominating chips lead. His chip count only continued to climb the rest of the night and the closest he came to falling into second in chips was during a grueling heads up match where his opponent Anthony Signore had drawn only close to even. In the end the former LA Poker Classic best all around player award winner Jose Luis Velador captured the $573,734 top place prize money and the first WSOP bracelet of his career.

The World Series of Poker has truly turned into an international event. This year we’ve seen bracelet winners from Canada, Germany, Russia, Netherlands and now for the second time this year Italy. The first Italian bracelet winner this year was Max Pescatori and the second is Dario Minieri who won the first WSOP bracelet of his career last night. His victory came in Event #31 $2,500 No-Limit Hold’em Six-handed and he pocketed $528,418 in prize money.

Day 19 of the 2008 WSOP is now in the books. Today we saw the year of the pro continue as John Phan and Rob Hollick both with their first bracelet. Phan won his bracelet when after a six hour long heads up match the players agreed to a flipament and Hollicks win made him the World Champion of limit Holdem and also gave the Dutch their first WSOP bracelet. Three other events were played today, two of which are down to tomorrows final table, while the other is just getting started.
