With the success of WPT Ladies night events and the rise in poker amongst female players the World Poker Tour has decided to launch an all new tournament league for ladies. This league will have its own No Limit Texas Holdem tournament circuit and already 5 events for season one have been scheduled. The first event will be held January 20 at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, NJ.

FTOPS, short for Full Tilt Online Poker Series, has been confirmed to carry on in 2008. This is a quarterly Vegas style tournament series which runs online. The first series of 2008 is FTOPS VII which will include 20 events over a 12 day period and its first event begins February 6th at 21:00 ET.

PokerStars broke two traffic records this week, according to their own poker news section their game traffic has reached 150,000 simultaneous players, and according to PokerScout’s news they also reached 20,000 real money ring game players.

Josh Field is well known in the poker community as a multi account cheater who formerly played under the handle JJ Prodigy. Recently he issued many public apologies for his past actions and asked the forgiveness of his poker pears. Apparently the poker community is not ready to forgive him and neither is PokerStars who banned extended his online ban to their live PokerStars Caribbean Adventure high stakes poker tournaments.
